Is it legal to ride 2 up on say a large utility quad that's only a 1 seater?

How about if you add one of those trunks that bolt on the back and have a second seat?

Before anyone jumps on the potential safety issue, I'm just asking a simple question and I don't even have a quad yet.:flipoff2:

Thanks.

Not sure if it is technically legal, but I have seen it. Then again, I also saw a bad accident with a father/son on a quad at Brown Mtn one year.

I know they tend to get a bit nose light with a passenger on back, so that would always be in my mind. Besides, my wife doesn't like hills or going fast. There's nothing on the Natl Forest website for URE about this, but there is a little problem with the quad my daughter would be riding. Seems you're illegal if you're under 12 and riding anything bigger than a 50cc ATV. Also, you can't be on anything bigger than a 70cc bike until you're 16. That's about the most retarded thing I've ever seen. 50cc bikes are just too damn small for an 11yo, and a 15yo on a 70cc would be just plain retarded. That just about kills that idea I had that kind of family fun.:shaking:

It is illegal and a $250 fine to ride double on a single, no matter what.... and that includes on your won property. Also $250 fine for no helmet. If a ranger sees you, you'll get the ticket.

Alrighty then. However, "they" can kiss my ass for what I do on my own property.
