We are putting on an event at Uwharrie at the end of March and would like to have clubs represented. The event is called the Uwharrie OHV Jamboree. We will be having dealers from Honda, Polaris, Yamaha, Suzuki, John Deere, Bobcat and Artic Cat attending. Most will be providing demo drives as well!
Your club can set up a booth for free, to recruit and sell your stuff. Check out the link below and let me know if your interested. Thanks!

I don't see why not? I would like to talk to you about it over the phone (if you don't mind) first, before I give a complete yes. Please call me. Thank you for your interest! Scott 336-906-1644.

Man, I dont know of too many ATV clubs. For some reason they are not like the jeeps and buggies, people seem to get pushed out that ride ATVs. I see a lot of places that do not want them, and several of the clubs dont want anything to do with you if your riding them. I got a jeep, but I cant afford the risk of tearing it up, thats why I bought the ATV, and it seems that these clubs and stuff just turn their noses up at that. Maybe Ive missed something along the way. Anyhow, that sounds like a good reason to ride down. Unfortunately it will be falling on my work days from what I see right now. On a lighter note, I am trying to see about setting a club with the Moose Lodge. Its not going to be set up though for a bit, Maybe next time around.

I know exactly what you mean. My group is just an easy way for meet other locals that like to ride. Some of the members do their part to help out cleaning up trails, but some are your typical atv idiots.

It would be nice to see that. I like what your thinking, but the private land owner groups dont let em in, so people just dismiss atv riders. I recently asked if ATVs would be allowed to a ride at the flats, a few others ask about UTVs, The people who where there pretty much said tough luck to you, Bring your jeep and risk it. I bought the ATV to risk that, save the jeep. SO that being said, I think there is going to have to be a bigger push to accept ATVs.

A local Polaris dealer told me that they are selling UTVs 8 to 1 over ATV sales! I know Polaris has the most UTV models to choose from, but that should tell us something. At Uwharrie, 70% of the users are
full-size 4WD vehicles. Not ATVs, UTVs or Dirt Bikes. I think ATVs will still be around - - But - - The times are a changing! Hatfield/McCoy trail sytem is even starting to develop a 4WD trail system!

I think its great that the bigger rigs are getting attention now, and places to go, however, I still think support for the ATV world needs to be shown. The sad thing is, the push for atvs is falling because there are not a whole lot of places to take them. The few parks for any form of off road use are few and far between. In many cases they are small areas that you can get around in less than 30 min and be over whole nine yards. As to Uwharrie having 70% of users as full sized 4x4's, I can understand that considering Uwharrie is one of the only available PUBLIC trail systems. There are a few that are privately owned that allow for the full sized rigs but they have no challenges to amount to anything for the big rigs. They do support atvs, but that is still a limited number of places to include them. Brown Mountain has a very limited selection of trails for the full sized units, and I dont know of many other places to go from there unless your are part of a club that has private wheeling land. Its tough for all 4x4s at this time. A lot of people dont like us, and for that matter, I dont blame them. We have all seen the trails, anywhere you go, beer cans and trash all over, the facilities that these places provide get trashed, trail restrictions completely disregarded for no reason but because they feel like it. As a WHOLE community, we all need to look at these practices. I noticed on a couple of these chats that some of the guys running the full sized rigs are trashing the ATVs out, blaming them for all the issues, but Its not just the atvs that are at fault, its a community issue. We have to work together as a community to improve our image as a whole. Not just the full sized rigs, not just the atvs and utvs, and not just the motorcycles. All these issues are affecting us as a whole. This is something that is going to take time, and if the full community would ban together, maybe ATV sales would go back up and we would see some ATV clubs, but right now. Its everyone on their own.

Good Stuff! What is it? ah "Together we stand, apart we fall" or something like that. I'm really not sure why and how the 4wd's have gotten so organized but that needs to be the model for the other OHV user groups. Then
get a spokesperson from each user group and form a user group organization!

I like your thinking, that, makes sense, and may be possible, the community continues to grow. Which gets back to the original reason for this post, maybe more events like this may help make that happen and spur the movement to work together instead of remaining divided communities.

The Uwharrie area is definitely growing. The OHVs has alot to do with that too! A Mr. Hudson just bought 20 acres in front of Uwharrie Adventures and is planning on putting up rental cabins and a carwash!

Thats awesome. That is the kind of support the community needs and I always like to clean the equipment up after a ride, just keeps it going longer. The cabins will be good for those who cant get toy haulers and dont want to go primitive.

Hope you make it to the Jamboree. Look for me when you get there, I will be wearing a Bright orange ball cap. I want to talk to you about Master Tread Training. Mention that to me when we meet. I might forget, I will be going 100 mph!

As it stands right now I am going to have to work that weekend. I tried to work out some days off but its not looking like it will happen. The Master Tread Training sounds interesting, I would like to know more about that. I will let you know if I have changes that allow me to make it down, I have a feeling its going to be a great event.

Thought I would mention another forum you might want to check in too. ATVNC.com its all about what we were discussing on this. It is based on the ATV world, so that may be a new place to link into. All these 4x4 forums need to ban together and work together to unite the communities as well.
