Lets pretend I was in an accident, clearly my fault, totalled car.
The cops call the local tow/salvage guy, they come take it to get it out of the way.
Have full (collision etc) insuance on the car.
What happens w/ the bill for towing and storage while the ins. co. haggles over the claim, etc?
I'm wondeirng if I should do something like have the car towed to my house (theoretically...). If it goes on for weeks (inevitable) I wouldn't want to then get hit w/ a rediculous tow/storage bill.

They (ins) should cover the tow bill. You will have to pay a deductable of course (so pretty much you will be paying it) but if you have full coverage you should be ok. Be ready for a rate increase as well!

"clearly myfault"

sounds like a good story. do we get to hear it?

It is motivation for them to settle quicker.

That's what I'm hoping... I've been through totals before (noy my fault) and it took awhile for the mto settle, mostly b/c I had to haggle on the value of my vehicle.

OMG are you ok?

Yes, I'm fine. Uh, theoretically, of course.
