I'm looking to decrease my payments. Currently I'm paying $1200 a year for the '88 Bronco and '90 GW. It's around $50 a month for either vehicle. Any suggestions?

If you're under 25, they bump you up a little bit, then speeding tickets don't help. If you can afford it, pay the lump sum, my insurance co (Progressive) cuts you a discount for that.
Drop any un-needed comprehensive insurance and raise the deductible if you do have comp...I don't know why you would on the 2 rigs you listed.

My bill was $624.22 for 6 months with the 3 vehicles in my signature plus wifey's minivan.

Depends on your record and your age. You may want to find some Joe Schmo Insurance company if you have a record. Until your record clears. I had to do that at one point. My insurance doubled cause I was a dumb ass and Drove drunk one night. I got my insurance from $1500 with State Farm to $800 with some no name company. They might not have the coverage of the bigger guys, but it'll keep you on the road legally. Look up DUI Insurance companies.

I'm 28 and had a speeding ticket back in June 2005. I've only filed one claim and that was 2 or 3 years ago, also. I've got a clean driving record, so to speak. I'm looking into an independant Progressive agent

I just saw that you said $1200 a year not every 6 months as I was thinking. that sounds a hair high, but not outrageous.

I have 3 vehicles, '78 CJ5, 93 ZJ, '99 ZJ a speeding ticket, and I'm at about $650 every 6 months for 2 drivers.

I'd just shop around a little.

We went from $225/mo with Nationwide to $161/mo with GEICO. 3 cars, full coverage, wife has a tarnished record (bunch of wrecks from 2 or 3 years ago). couple of them are about to drop off so that'll help out on the monthly payment. so i guess you could say i saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico. plus, they have very friendly customer service. I haven't had any issues with switching my plans, or finding out coverage. Nationwide always had to call me back or something. they were never on their game.

Nationwide sucked for us. Now we have GMAC car insurance and Farm Bureau Home Owners. A lot cheaper and we have four vehicles and I have 3 insurance points. Maybey 165.00 month

I was looking into switching to Geico, but from what the website has brought me to believe, they will not even offer full coverage to me since I am under 19. That has been what has kept me on my Nationwide policy thus far.

I've been with Erie for over ten years. I currently have full coverage on my '95 CTD, '99 TJ, '98 ZJ and I pay less than that. Plus if you can't pony up the $$$ when the policy renews their payment plan is set up for eight month on four months off. Their policies run for a year instead of six months which will help to insulate you in case of tickets.
My $.02

State farm is fair with their pricing. I pay around $900 for my 2000 F250 and 2004 Liberty with full coverage and $100 deductible, personal property insurance and my homeowners insurance. My wife and I have clean driving records. Some companies give discounts with the more you insure; home, auto, personal property, etc. etc. I highly recommend State Farm. Every time I've looked into other insurance, they were much more expensive...

then why am I paying $1200 for 20 year old vehicles? Is it because of SC making the deductable $250 minimum?

Ditto! Ours is written by an independent agent (Dwayne Long = highly recommended) in K'ville. Have insured everything through them for the last 10 years or so. They have discounts for multiple vehicles... crap, I've got 5! '07 Kia, '97 Camry, '93 D350, '72 Commando, & a rider for the trailer (was told standard auto/truck policy MAY NOT cover damages by the trailer/towed load) and will also discount if you have homeowners through them.

So, how many more years you gonna pay for tags & insurance for Bounty to sit in the backyard rusting before you finally take it offroad? IIRC, you'll pass Pat's record in a few more years :flipoff2:

don't know why... Every insurance company is different and each state is different. SC may require more minimum insurance on uninsured/underinsured...

shop around

Erie, clean record. 01 Excurs full coverage, 96 Tacoma liability only, $374 every 6 months, Set you deductable for at least $500 or $1K and carry only liability on a vehicle valued at less than $5K

Sc has the lowest regulations around, but they have the highest rate of accidents.

Go online and search, we just switched last year to some independent that wrote us through liberty mutual, we went from 1900/year to under 600.
After the 2nd year I hear they will skyjack your rates, but Ill just search and switch again....
