I know there was a thread on this a while back about buying and shipping cars on Craigslist.... what was the general concensis on this? Good bad ugly...I think I found something but don’t know if it’s a hokes or not. The lady named the shipper an I was able to talk to them... still don’t really know

I would feel better finding my own shipping company. I bought a Jeep from the west coast 3 years ago and got a steal on it and the shipping also IMO.

I have bought and sold Jeeps and had to use a shipper. Maybe the lady is just trying to be helpful with naming a company. If I sell something I recommend the ones I have interacted with in the past that I had good dealings with but I also encourage the buyer to do their own research so they are comfortable with the logistics too.

Well I called the supposed company DYM... he said he had a vehicle from the lady but wouldn’t give any info on it without her consent... explained how everything works...her story is she’s deployed and can’t talk on the phone... just thru email an that’s got me worried

1 word. Scam.

It doesn't work that way.

Any time you get the run around about not being able to talk on the phone, run away.

I bet the vehicle is a screaming deal, too. Try a Google reverse image search for it.

Whenever you hear "deployed" you 100% know it's a hoax.

If you see a too good to be true ad with tiny pictures and a shitty description, it's a hoax.

Google image search any Craigslist pic, if you find it other places, its a hoax.

I think it was I emailed her back an said if the shipping company can’t send me pictures or give me some info I’m done talking.... so far I’ve only heard crickets

On the topic of actual shippers, I've shipped several...used different carriers. Going rate seems to be $1.50-$2/mile...can some times find a hot shot that'll do it for a cheaper flat rate or let Uship dick around with it for months. It's been my experience that everyone on the internet can get stuff shipped for half a ham sammich and a 3 day old sprite...but can never tell who their source is, or when they do, their source's prices magically go up and I get the same price range as any other quote.

I've shipped multiple vehicles from CA (and other places along the west coast) for $1500.

Anything along the east coast is at least $1.00/mile because the distance is less and the rate increases to make up for the trip as most of these trips aren't done on a semi.

I've used U-ship and also several of the brokers. I haven't spoken with a broker who wasn't a snake but they get the job done. All they do is put your new vehicle on a dispatch board that all the truckers look at and collect a fee for it. It's basically middle man, which U-ship eliminates. Only downside is that I don't think many truckers look at U-ship because it tends to sound like craigslist.

The seller does not have to do anything in the process other than give a pick up location and a good phone number. At no time is the vehicle stored anywhere

Also, if the ad or subject has a random 6 digit number in it, its fake/BS/Scam.

Jeep TJ from Portland Oregon to canton NC in April of 2015 for $800 cash. It was packed full of spare parts and arrived in 4 days after pickup if I remember correctly. Egor’s transport.

Where is it for sale? I have tried selling shit when I have been deployed and it is damn hard to talk on the phone some times but it’s not impossible. Photos are also hard sometimes but, again, not impossible. All this depends on the location of the deployment. Could be bs but could be legit. Depending on more details I may be able to sniff out the validity of her “deployed” claim.

This is what I got.... I think I’m done with it. When I told her to give the shipper permission to tell me an show me pics about the truck I ain’t heard back

I drove the truck when I was serving in Missouri at Whiteman Air Force Base. Last week I was deployed to Alaska at Eielson Air Force Base, we are making final preparations before deploying to Syria for a year and do not want to store the truck as there is no one to drive it. The truck is in Springfield, MO in DYM Auto Shipper
