I have an automatic wrangler and when I put in into reverse in the mornings it takes about 10-20 seconds for it to get into gear and move. In other words you put it in R and wait for it to move Drive is fine and there is no transmission slippage when your driving and once its warmed up no problem with reverse anymore . Any ideas???

my buddy has one does the same thing only in every gear and makws like a whinin noies and does have some slipage anyone no the prob its in a 97 tj

I read on another forum about that same issue. they said there was a valve the would "crap out" and let the fluid pressure drain from somewhere. If you could start the jeep....put it in neutral for about 5 seconds....then put it in gear and it would go as it should...then its that valve.

supposedly, the pressure will not build up as fast "in gear...drive or reverse" as it would while in neutral.

This is hearsay...but it seemed to be validated by what the original poster's end results were....he tried putting it in neutral first, then gear...and had no more problems. (the problem was still there, but not an issue any longer.

in jeeps the main seal in the transmission are shitty and they dont last long at all i would check the fluid level and make sure its not leaking any where underneath mine was doing that then i changed the seal and it works good now
