its a 84 k5 blazer. the four wheel drive will engage and the driveshaft will spin but the hubs will not lock. this is my first 4x4 so any help would be appreciated.

maybe the spring inside the hub is broken or theer is trash inside where the splines are not allowing it to engage. best thing would be take it apart and check for broken parts

ive got it apart and cleaned it already. now i cant get it back together. lol. the locker wont go back into place. i cant get the side springs to go over it. the ones you have to push outwards to slide the locker out. it was really dirty and nasty. u could tell they havnt been cleaned in a while. i just bought the truck last week so im trying to get some stuff fixed on it. and this is the main thing im trying to get fixed.

is there a website that shows a diagram of how the hub comes apart and goes back together? i cant find one anywhere.

You're best off ditching those autos and getting some manual hubs.

The normal Warns are good to go, the premiums in half ton flavor are just bling.

x2...mile marker manual hubs are cheap and will probably suffice for you. warn hubs are good, cost a little more but does the same job...there straight foward and an easy install.

Warn hubs are usually around $100 - $150 for a set and can be found at most major auto parts store I would call them all I have found prices vary alot for the same product.

AS for the install not real familar with k5 but usually it is just remove cap and replace with locking hub. Sounds like with the your axle you'll have to over ride your auto locking hub.

thanks. will look into it. any other suggestions on what would be the easiest and most inexpensive way to do this?

If you're in Spartanburg, SC I've got a set you can have. They were advertised as Warn, but didn't have anything Warn on them when I got them. They are the quarter turn hubs, not the full turning ones. Come over next weekend and I'll teach you how to swap them out....for free. I've taken mine in and out of my K5 several times. Pm me if you're interested. - Stacy

Just pull the old auto locking hubs out, and replace with new manual locking hubs. Since you already have the old out, you are halfway there.
