Looking for a set of gauges for the Willys that has that old school feel. Does everyone use Autometer? Pros/cons? Is there a better/cheaper brand out there? I'll need the basic(rpm, tach, oil pressure, temp etc) and not looking to pay 100-200 per gauge.

Kaiser Willys seems to carry a good selection of gauges that match so that could be an option as well

Thanks,

I have equus gauges in my samurai. I have the mechanical oil, volts and the electric water temp. I have subjected them to mud, rain, and the occasional pressure wash and all have been flawless. You can buy them in o'reillys, but online is cheaper; All came with various adapters. I have a large steering column mount tach for my truck, although I havn't used it yet the initial quality is very good. Not super old looking but with the flat dash in my zuk they still have the old school style.

Autometer also has a custom shop that will make just about anything for gauge face styling, and also retrofits of new gauge movements into the existing gauge cluster.

Also, the Moal Bomber-series gauges from Classic Instruments are really cool..

I have the original gauges in the dash. All the parts seem to be there but I do not know if any of them function anymore. I wonder if I could send them off to be repaired or if I can repair them myself. @Fabrik8 those look really good.

If the gauges are intact, and you like the look, I'd call Autometer and see if they can retrofit new guts to the old gauges and how much that might cost. They started that whole side of the business so that people can keep the original gauge clusters in their hot rods, etc.

Autometer sport comp gauges here.

Quick update, I called Autometer and they do NOT restore old gauges. They did however, refer my to RedLine Gauges out west.

Autometer Traditional Chrome for me...because chrome gets you dome. And because the scheme generally fits 70's fords pretty well.

I run isspro ev2 gauges in my dodge. Been in there since 08 with only 2 problems. One was a bad sending unit and the other was an led that went bad. Both were taken care of at a very reasonable cost. Both issues happened last year after 7 years.

Just bought my first speedhut gauge. It was recommended by a vendor who doesn't even sell the brand. It's nice and MADE in the Good Ole USA!
