after the spindle nuts backed off and caused my locking hub to break and my inner bearing to shread, i pulled everything apart to access the damage...

spindle wasn't damaged.

hub didn't look damaged.

well i got all new bearings and seals, and a new hub under warranty got two actually, thank you for the spare autozone!)
when i went to get my old inner bearing race out it just popped right now.... thought this was off but i didn't think too much of it.

I got my new race, also a Timken part, model # JLM104910... and it has almost a 16th of an inch of play to move around. WTF The race for the outer bearing is not as tight as a race should be either.... thought the race fits snug, i didn't even need to beat it in there... 2 taps and she fell into place....

could the hub assembly itself stretched somehow or worn itself bigger?? this makes no sense. maybe their is another race that is just slightly larger i could use with the same bearing?

i'm confused. any help would be great.

also looking for sources of new hub assembly's that have them in stock

are the part numbers on the bearing races themselves the same as what you pulled out?

I would question the right part from AZ before I got too worried about damage to your stuff, I've too many times gotten the wrong part or "close" because AZ parts monkey thought he knew what was going on.

part #'s stamped on all my races match the part number on the boxes.

the specs off timken's website (dimensions) are identical to the dimensions of the advance auto parts version.

jeff's bronco graveyard has new (not rebuilt) hub's for $70... guess i'll order one today but i just wondered if anyone has ever come across this....

-Erik <--- wonders if this was the cause of my slight front end shimmy.... rotor obviously wasn't spinning perfectly round on the spindle b/c of the play in the races....

Yea I have heard that some of the XJ's running D44's out west are having problems like this. I was told there hubs are streching and causing stub failure.

interesting.... well jeff's bronco graveyard has a new one headed my way.... monday i should be back on the road if all goes according to plan.... i guess then i'll pull off the driver's side and see if I have the same problem developing over there.....
