Plan on doing the swap from a aw4 to manual ax-15 soon. I have compiled all of the parts I need for the swap. The final phase is the wiring and getting the engine to run throwing no codes and keeping the ECU happy with no auto trans anymore. I have read many threads on this swap and I have three options.

1) Send my information to autocomputerexchange and have them flash a new computer for my cherokee. But this is a lot of $$$ and I would rather not throw all of that money at electronics.

2)Follow a few threads that have had success and wire the NSS to by pass any confusion the computer may have and "trick" it. I like the idea of a cheap reserve option but this is my go to car and don't want to have something fry or split wires when it could be the worst time possible.

3)other :fuck-you:

For option number three does it make text book sense for me to do some junkyard scavenging and find another 4.0/ax15/231 92 xj and just yank out the computers and electronics I will need. I looked up prices on pull a part and they seem reasonable.

TIA
Nick

sounds like if you found a decent writeup and have a good understanding of the NSS wiring, it doesnt seem that risky. 5-6 wires, run the reverse lights, and tell the ECU when its in Park/Neutral to allow starting...its not like huge current that will burn the XJ to the ground, or even fry an ECU.

if your going from an aw4 to an ax15 there shouldnt be much to worry about. The TCU is standalone to the ECU. You'll only have to worry about jumping the nss park neutral and reverse lights. The TCU pulls a couple sensors from the motor but thats it.
