I just steped up to a 49" tire as of today. The ole aw4 dosnt like the tires to well but pulls ok with 5.38's..I really need a lower ratio to crawl better.

What are my options with the t-cases out there? I could put a 4:1 in my 231 BUT thats my weak link in my rig right now so instead of rebuilding the 231 and puting in the teralow would i be better off upgrading to a stronger tcase at the same time?

Atlas......Those tires are HUGE. I think they will destroy everything around them (parts of the jeep). Are you looking to keep the AW4 for a while? Is it stock now? If your're gonna keep the same tranny and build it.....then I'd just go with an Atlas. Everything else that you could put behind that trans is going to bring the suck with tires that big.

Yea trans is fresh so i dont want to move it out...and imo the aw4 is a good damn trans so i really want to keep it.

Im considering a atlas since a tera kit and rebuild kit for the 231 would be half or more than just buying a atlas...

2-speed or 4-speed? Any others out there that comes near atlas?

Nope. You have to sink a shit ton of money into anything else and it's still not as good. Toy cases are awsome but I wouldn't want one with tires that big
Dana 300s are strong but I don't like them and to fully build one it would cost more than a used atlas
NP205s are beef as shit but the low range brings the suck.
Stak...lovell

*DON'T get a tera low get for that 231, it will explode(as will a stock one)!
*DON'T get a 300...after you upgrade outputs and gears you've bought yourself an atlas and you'll crack the case by the time you do all that which leaves you buying a Stak replace-a-case, and then you've definitely bought an Atlas.
*Stak-thats up to you...they've had long lead times and are known to pop out of gear
*DO buy an Atlas. Install it once and never worry about it again.

yea...what that guy said:beer:
