My jeep will go into first gear but as soon as i start to ease off the clutch it pops out, i tried to hold it in and it made a grinding noise. Hopeing i dont have to rebuild it, as i just bought it and was told it was good. all other gears shift fine!

Yep first gear sounds like it's out....

Have you just installed this trans or ??
New clutch and or throwout bearing ??

If you have a bad gear I have a parts AX-15 that you could use.

yep i did a 2.5 to 4.0l swap and just got everything bolted up, took it for a test drive around the lot and thats when i found the issue. Bad thing is i have not a clue about transmissions.

and the clutch and throwout bearing are both brand new..

syncronizer is out of place for 1st or 2nd gear which jams up those two gears. My son has had that happen alot over the last six years. It's an easy cheap fix if you can figure out how to take it apart or find someone that can. I could not find someone so I did it myself, several times. If I can help just let me know. The only special tools required are snap ring pliers and a press to take apart a couple of parts on the main shaft.
