I've got a 94 wrangler with 4 banger and 5 speed. Third gear synchro is going out. Anybody know a cheap fix or someonr who works on them. Also any idea on what it would cost to get fixed. thanks
Brad

I would suggest changing the transmission oil to ATF or synthetic oil. Heavy gear oil is hard on syncros. Chrylser put ATF in many of their big block muscle cars years ago from the factory.

I have run ATF for years in my 5 speeds. Shifts a hell of a lot better, especially in the winter, and no failures ever.

My $0.02

yeah no kidding, I seriously doubt its that easy, I tried the same thing with a 92 YJ I had, replaced totally with LUCAS, guess what, still grinded. I just figured out the Jeep front vacumm 4x4 engage was stuck. I wandered why it was vibrating at 60mph(the front axle was engaged) no it is smooth as silk!Later

I switched over t syncromesh in my old YJ. It's what the newer GM's runs in there trannies. It's expensive. About $15 a quart if I remember correctly but I got a decent hookup on it. Made a heck of a difference in mine.

so has anybody actually had a synchronizer that was grinding, stop grinding after changing fluids or additives? Thanks
Brad
