Will a ax15 transmission mate up to a 4 cyl.? I have a 89 yj trying to figure out if it's worth the time and money to rebuild the current transmission.

Yes, but you need a bellhousing from a dakota, and no the 5 spd behind the 4cyl isn't worth it.
