I have some questions about the AX5 trans. In particular the bell housing and clutch slaves

I'd seen mention of an AX5 that had an external slave on the passenger side, and i've seen some pics of bell housings that might suggest that is possible. Any idea what the year/application is ?

I'm piecing together a W56 with some AX5 pieces, so it can be hooked to a GM motor (smiler to jeep 2.5) and if I can get the clutch master to the passenger side, I will have more driver foot room.

I should add, I am fully aware there is an internal slave in the pics, im trying to understand the extra bolt holes and possibly clutch pivot. Il replace the input retainer to use a normal throwout bearing etc...

well damn seems 10min more searching and I'm a little closer...

Seems some the 84+ had the AMC 2.5 (non-iron duke) which used an external clutch slave. The same slave as some older CJs) It looks that the clutch master is about the size to bolt up onto the bell...

So if anyone has any junk laying around and can snap a pic of possible toss my way thats be cool...

My theory is clutch fork can be swapped to hold a standard throw out bearing, and let me use an external slave on the other side (passanger side).

Here is a pic.
