Can anyone ID this axle? Spring under, full width, 5 lug.

Buddy mine bought a 71 Demon and this was under it for a roller. We were just trying to figure what it is.

Bet its a chrysler 8.25. Makes sense with the rubber fill plug

Aren't 8 3/4 Chryslers pull out diff housings like Ford 9" and Toyota's? The car came stock with the 8 3/4" from the factory, but this is something stuck under the car just to get it on the trailer. The spring perches are too wide for the Demons leaf springs.

Yep, I have regeared many old Mopar 8 3/4's. Definately a Dana/Spicer rear pictured here. I would say an older J truck 44 rear, except it's spring under...
Looks like an old Dana 44 rear to me.

Yeah I was thinking early 44, doesn' t match most 44' s I've seen, but.....

The perches appear to be angled like truck arm perches. 60s Chevy truck or full size Chevy, perhaps?

Do the perches look like this?

Looks a lot like the 7.25 Mopar at the top here, dont it? Only 9 bolt axle I have ever seen!

Damn know where any more DEMONS might possibly be????
Pm me if you have any leads man would be greatly appreciated!

The spring perches are straight, I guess they look a little distorted in the picture. The thing is pretty much a boat anchor, but no one seems to know exactly what it is. I'm thinking Novacayne75 might be on right track, a local guy said he thought early production 44. The yard it came from is all "old iron".

So you gonna put your buddies demon build on here?? you should lmao

The twisted perches should be a giveaway as GM. But that's not gosple.... I'v changed a Mopar 8 1/4 and that's deffinately not one. So you can rule that one out.
