Is there anyone on here or local to Hickory that can spline/respline axle shafts? I need to get a few shafts cut down and splined.
@Will Carter. Can Rightside do this?
Will said his equipment was in storage for now.Didnt will at right side do these?
They are my backup and I've used them before but I'd like to be able to talk/show to someone in person. What I'm wanting isn't just a simple cut/respline.It cost me $18 to ship one axle to Moser. Probably well worth the money to have them do it for you.
Sounds like I need to buy an indexer...
That indexer costs almost as much as my mill did. I'd rather buy old ironHere you go... http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=203-4010&PMPXNO=953782&PARTPG=INSRHI
... and a chuck is NOT included.

It could certainly be done on either. I assume people use a horizontal because it's stiffer and easier to see. My mill is both horizontal and vertical. I'm not sure what tool to use, but I've got plenty of resources to find out if you'd like to know.Dumb question, but horizontal or vertical mill, what kind of tool would you use to get the proper profile?
I have seen it done on a horizontal, but with the right tool I don't see why it couldn't be done on a vertical?
