I just got this new Dell Laptop with Windows 7...man its a lot different than the old ThinkPad with XP. I am just way too comfortable with everythign the way it was. What I am missing a lot is the dumb BACK button. I thought that was standard on all keyboards now, I guess not. On the left and right of the ThinkPad cursor up key are FWD/BACK buttons, they were awesome for surfing the net. I would use the arrows to scroll up/down, then hit the back button, all with one finger. Now I'm gonna have to relearn web wheeling here, this Dell laptop has empty spaces where they cheezed out on the keyboard features.
I am also struggling with the fingerpad and new fangled stretchy zoom and scroll functions, still havent quite figured it out yet. But I do have a free year of Napster

You can hold down ALT (either one) and use your left and right arrow keys to go forward and back.

edit: that's with FF, dunno IE, can't check right now.

ok, that's working too. I like the one key appraoch. The backspace key is a little stretch, I think I'll be trying to re-learn it that way, dunno though, thanks for another option.

after futher review, the ALT-back is easier to use, since both keys are closer to the touchpad

Ah that's b/c you use the damn tocuhpad
I hate those things, the only way to go is the little finger nipple in the middle of the keyboard

(yes, i know few boxes have those anymore)

I never could never use that thing, but my wife, former IBM/Lenovo employee, is really missing that.

Screw the buttons! Turn on the gesture functions of your touchpad. You don't even have to move your hand to scroll, zoom, and navigate back and forth. The ultimate lazy-man's webwheeling!

The correct term for this (per IBM tech support) is the "eraser head"... :flipoff2:

ya that's the PC term but come on, thinking of it as a nipple just makes the day a little brighter
