Backspacing

I'm about to do an 8.8 rear swap soon and I'm noticing that the 8.8 is about 1" shorter than the dana 35. To make the difference up, do I need to get different backspacing on the wheels?

It would make sense to get 3.25" of backspacing in the front and maybe 3.75" in the rear. This would make the wheel-to-wheel length equal on both axles.

I am running 3.75" of backspacing on all four wheels with an 8.8 rear and it isn't a problem. Might as well keep it the same BS on all 4 wheels and make tire rotations easier on yourself.

If it don't rub, having a narrower axle in the rear helps with turning.. ;)

I have 4" BS and 12.5" wide tires. No rubbing on my 8.8'd TJ. I can't see a difference from the front by eye and I can't tell the difference when driving.

I agree with the above post... keep all the wheels the same to keep rotations easy.

If you did want to adjust the width and were in a pinch, you could always use a narrow wheel spacer.
