Well I get to work today and get a good kick in the junk. My boss decides that since the business isn't doing so well my hours need to be cut down to part time. Now, I know many people have been having hours cut and been laid off but I have a serious problem with this. See, when I first started this job I was hired on as full time to take over for the guy that was leaving and promised to stay full time. I worked full time for about a month and half when the OWNER hired a guy that had worked for the company years before but quit. So I get bumped down to part time and they hire a new manager. So the new manager promises me at least 20 hours a week. This doesn't happen either. So from about mid June 2010 until Jan 1 2011 I'm getting roughly 1-2 days a week maybe. From Jan 1 2011 til Jan 17 2012 I have been full time. I haven't called in, I was late once months after I moved to Kannapolis and it was only 4 min. As a matter of fact I normally show up 10+ min before the boss does. I have worked for this company almost 2 years ( been at that store longer than anyone else there ). She has hired a part time guy but refuses to let him go. Hired a guy last April but refuses to cut his hours. I do more work than anyone in the store and I do it faster than anyone in the store. I even sell more parts, fix more computers, and I rarely have computers come back because of the same problem. I'm a good worker and I want to work but all of this doesn't make a difference to her. Her reason for putting me back to part time is, and I quote, "You were part time when I started, so you can just go back to that status." end quote. I have already told her what I thought about it and I thought it was unfair. So I will be going with the Laid Off status so I can pound the pavement up here in Kannapolis and surrounding areas.

I was pretty pissed off at first and in shock since I didn't know what to do or say, but, after coming home and getting to church a little late and talking with the pastor and my wife I had a realization. If I take the laid off status I will be home more with the kids while looking for another job. This will give me more time to actively look for a job and save the gas I was using driving to and from Charlotte everyday. I will still have money coming in so I can get my bills paid. I will also be able to study up on some certs that I need to get out of the way.

PS.
Anyone looking for a damn good computer tech that has a great work ethic.:D

when no one's got your back, it's time to move your back. good luck on the hunt.

Well as of tomorrow I will officially be laid off and no longer have a job :(. I asked if I could stay full time until the end of the month so I could pay the rent and was told no. I can honestly say that I gave this place my very best I could even will all the crap I had to put up with and I know God will provide me with the things I need to get through this bump in the road. This door is closed now I have to get to work finding a new one to open up. Wish me luck fellas and ladies ( I know there a couple here ).

I will probably start doing on-site repair work while I am hunting for a job. I also have a lead on a home school teaching gig for kids and adults that I get to charge whatever I want per semester or class. If anyone wants to know how much the work is just PM on here. I have some set prices on certain repairs since some take longer than others.

Well I have been laid off from work since Fri. and today the driver door to my Jeep wouldn't close because of previous break-ins. The sheet metal that holds the latch on the door had been tearing as of late and I was trying to hold out for a new door but when my wife was pulling out of the church parking lot it had come open on her so I had to fix it. Well while trying to fix I'm pretty ticked off and wasn't paying close attention while using an angle grinder with a sanding wheel on it. Well it bit my first finger and took small chunk out or rather sanded a small chunk out. The sucky thing about it was that I was only about 3 min into fixing it and had to finish with a makeshift bandage on my finger. Wife said I shouldn't be using power tools while raging about the thieves and the screwed up door. Oh and I happen to be doing this all the while I feel like crap and my leg is killing me to the point I didn't make it to church today. So to re-cap. I felt like crap all day, didn't get to go to church, knee is making my whole leg hurt, and I now have a skin missing on my finger. The good thing about this whole situation is that now my driver door will stay shut. What a day this was, and I'm only 2 days into my layoff.

What kind of computer tech?

Send me a PM outlining capabilities and such. I may have some freelance work for you if it fits.
