Ball joint snap ring dana 30?

Just put ball joints on the front of my dana 30 YJ and the lower jount front Oreillys had a snap ring with it, the top of the ball joint has a groove for the ring but, with the joint fully installed and flush on the bottom, the groove is not far enough up on one side to put the snap ring in. Anybody else had this problem?
 
Yes, I have run into this before. There are a couple of reasons why. First is the ball joint you bought fits more than a dana 30. Second reason is some mid 90 dana 30's are cast a little different and the snap ring will fit on those models. I beleive it was only on XJ's that the snap ring fits.
 
Glad somebody else has had this problem, I was about to just tack weld it too be safe:lol:

Tony you ready? I have to put in a new steering box, ball joint on the other side, more steering stuff, and a bunch of other crap!
