I have a friend that wants me to put some ball joints in his 01 dodge 3500 2wd. He said he read that he needs to use moog parts and they will last longer but he found them for about 100 each but I found some "OE" ones on ebay for 60 shiped for all 4. What do you guys with these trucks think get the cheeper ones or use what brand and were to get them if you know a cheeper place.

Thanks
Brandon

We do them at the shop A LOT! If they are riveted in, heres a tip:

Use a strait grinder, and grind an "X" pattern in the head of the rivet. All the way down to the flat part of the control arm. THEN use a chisel bit on an air hammer (if avail.) and chisel the head off the rivet. Then just simply tap out the shaft of the rivet... Makes removing the rivets REAL easy!

PM me if you have any questions about the "X" technique...

USE MOOG! BEST BY FAR. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Advance Auto now carries Moog...

Agreed. Get the Moog ball joints. I used a torch to cut mine off flush and finished them off with the air chisel. Worked great.

moog

i use moog ball joints in everything i own. am a auto tech and have seen cheep ball joints wear out in 10000 miles on a stock truck and one four wheeling trip on a S10 on 33". and on big truck they are under alot more weight. u can put cheap ones in but your going to be doing it agian soon

I am a auto tech also and have changed many ball joints over the years but just wanted to see if the moog were worth the cost 60 for the cheep ones and 400 for moog but my buddy said he bought the moog and I am putting them in Monday

Thanks for everyones help

well got then done last night or started them last night and finished them at 2am. The uppers were easy but has to drill out the lowers and it took forever but they are done and used the moog so hope theu will last FOREVER!

i know it is a little late to answer this, but for the sake of anyone else, the oe "style" chinese stuff on ebay is junk. i bought a set for an f-250 and there was no comparison to a Moog joint.
