The 14 bolt is a great axle. They are cheap, strong, easy to find and cheap to build. However they have always had one down fall, that huge lip on the bottom that get hung one ever thing on the trail. Barnes 4WD has come up with a solution to this issue. Our GM 14 Bolt 3/8” Shave Cover. This cover will give you more than 1 ¼” of ground clearance. Another thing that makes this a great shave cover is that you will not need to have your gears turned or perform a complicated welding or machining process that just adds more cost to your axle build. All that you will need to do is bolt the diff cover to your axle and cut off the extra lip. This can be done with simple tools that you have and you can do it yourself and we GUARANTEETHEM FOR LIFE! Like all of our diff covers they are made from 3/8” plate and machined flat after they are welded to insure that you will have a flat surface to mount to your axle. We do recommend using allen head bolts on our GM 14 Bolt Shave Cover.

Your price of $120 seems to be a normal price for most covers so that makes yours a great buy since it's a big improvement over the competition.

Do you have a pic of the shaved diff without the cover?
 
Thanks Shawn, I will get a pic for you. The bottom is the factory thickness except for the "lip" on the bottom. Basically after the shave the bottom has a uniform thickness.

i have this kit on my Ktruck and it is BEEF!! really cleans up the 14bolt, nice heavy cover!!

scared to death!!!!!
