Can anyone tell me anything about this switch? It was in the trash at a local HD truck center, so I grabbed it. Wondering if it will hold up to the 2× 750 CCA batteries in my CTD ram as a mannual cutoff switch. I can't find any part number or ratings on it.

Can't tell from just the pic really. Numbers to look up specs?

Switches that can do what you want are fairly inexpensive and you will know the history and specs on it. I wouldn't use that one without knowing why it's in the trash, even if you can find specs on it.

Amazon.com: Blue Sea Systems m-Series Mini On-Off Battery Switch with Knob- Red: Sports & Outdoors

I have a couple of these on the camper. One on/off and one a/b/both/off. If you can find the "full size" ones (rather than the mini) for a decent price, they're easier to wire up, but harder to locate. I used to have one (I think it was a Cole Hersee) that was about 6" square.

This is the one that the OP needs:

It looks like it comes apart pretty easily. Just open it up and see if the contacts are good. It looks like there's a connector there in the middle - maybe it got plugged into the vehicle bus for monitoring or something like that, and that's the part that went bad.

Judging by where the OP works...I'm wondering if there local HD truck center men's something different than to most....

Yeah, a lot of good stuff goes out in the dumpster. I could talk to an electrical engineer, but that's usually a painful experience.

FWIW...this looks a lot like the standard factory disconnect switch used on a good amount of class 8 trucks in the US

I install alot of those on big fork lifts, they are typically rated for 100 amps, but since it was in the trash I would put it back there! Go to NAPA and buy a good all metal one! About $40 or so, but worth it!!
