Battery/Winch Questions

Nobody has chains....?

Nobody has chains....?
We did, but none of them did. Also, that hill they got stuck on and drove the ditch down, I had to show off a bit. I put it in low range, 1st gear, and idled down the center. Tires had 30 PSI in them. Knock off Cooper style AT's. A few months ago I replaced the axles in this Jeep. He went from a 3.07:1 ratio to a 4.10:1 ratio. Difference is like night and day.

OK gentlemen, an update and a few more questions.

The battery is in 👍🏻 I saved about 12 bucks due to the commercial discount. It is very nice having the threaded studs for the winch and light relay connections.

While I was out there, I decided to do something about the winch rope being attached to the side of the drum by a bolt through a lug end arrangement. I saw the rope jump over that screw while winching from the right and I don’t like that setup.

I removed the rope.

I saw a little thing Bubba Rope makes called the Rope Grabber and I ordered it. I saw however that lots of people use duct tape and some various different first wraps to start the rope as well. Apparently the first wraps are what holds the rope from spinning and some tape works Fine too?

How do y’all do it?

Doesn't really matter, You just need something to hold it in place until you get ~4 wraps on the drum.

Ok, I used a method with Gorilla Tape I found on Pirate. Worked like a charm. I used the F250 as my weight, pulling up the drive to the shop.

I’ll save the Bubba thing in the glove box.

The battery is night and day. I pulled most of the way without stopping. When I put the smart charger on it, it still held 90% reserve. I left the charger on it a couple of hours and it went to float.

👍🏻👍🏻Up for O’Reilly Marine AGM.
