At carolina beach if you are running 33x12.50 on a 2" lifted wrangler should you still let the air out of your tires? Never driven on the beach but might try it soon.

You should not need to, although I often do as it seems to improve the ride and lesson the pull on the motor.

What would you drop the pressure down to. Do you carry something to put air back in the tires with or just find a gas station

air down just enough to help but still be able to drive to store, I would say around 15-18 psi & the store isnt far when you come off the beach. Dont try to be a hero or impress anybody, the sand is like no other! use low range and if you have mud terrain tires try your best not to spin. if you have problems there is several locals the are members of this forum.

I drive my 9000 pound F250 out on the beach without airing the tires down and it does fine. It's also stock with pizza cutter tires. You see stock jeeps out on the beach every weekend doing fine. You will have no issues rolling right out on the beach without airing your tires down. I have yet to see a wrangler stuck on this beach.

Good luck with that at Hatteras/Oregon Inlet. We have pea gravel you guys down south dont. You cant make it past 1/2 the ramps at HI w/o airing down.

Maybe things have changed lately... I've driven all over the OBX's and carolina beach... Even when my old XJ had 285x75x16's I never aired them down and never used low range... I can't see where low range would provide any benefit in sand... maybe I was just lucky..

referencing the 9000lb F250. I can drive my Taco everywhere but the Excursion/F350 burys w/o dropping form 65 to 30-35 psi on 285/70/16. If it has rained usually no issues but if it has been dry for a few weeks its nasty around Hatteras.

gottcha.... It is fun just to sit and watch northerners try to even pull out on the beach sometimes down towards Hatteras.

I agree with you guys. The sand is much thicker on the OBX than Carolina beach. They scrape Carolina every now and then with a tractor to keep it down but the OBX will get you in some areas.
