I KNOW there are some in Randolph Co so I would think there would be. Junior males get ran out by the dominant male so they will travel a pretty good ways.
A few years back a small black bear spent two days in a tree in Randleman, NC. People kept going to see the bear because the local news media over covered the story. They had to stop people from going to see the bear so he could climb down and be on his way.
I'd like to see the Uwharries have a resident population of bears.
I don't see why it wouldn't or couldn't. Might cause a problem if they get hungry and all the campers leaving crap out. It happens further north all the time. Not unusual to see it where I am from.
