I got a 76 F100 2wd for free, I want make it 4x4, would a radius armed D44 out of a bronco work in there with minimal mods, I know I'll prolly have to make a new engine cross member.

thanks

It will be a lot of fabrication using the stock frame....may be better to find a donor 4wd frame to start from.

ok, after doing some reading I think I could do it with min fab work if I use the front axle out of a 76-77 F100/150 because it would have the narrow frame like my 76, all I really wanted to know is if the stock coil buckets could be used on mine since I would be using extend radius arms with about 6'' lift.

Spring buckets are different. The 2wd mounts flat on the frame where the 4wd prutrudes out like 3-4 inches from the frame. The 2wd buckets are about 3 inches shorter and the groove in them is made for the smaller coil springs but that isn't a problem with a good spring retaining strap.
The good though if you move the perches in on a D44 to match the 2wd, the shorter buckets would yield 3-4" of lift. You'd need to cut that big frame cross member out of the way of the front axle and fab another one more forward to hold the 2 frames together. Besides that, the major difference is that the 2wd frame isn't boxed in like the 4wd to take the front suspension abuse. Some major fabbing would be in store.
I've seen it done on 2 different trucks in my life so it can definately be done, but both dudes clearly stated that it would have been MUCH easier to find a 4wd frame.
Heck, Doc has one for sale now! And I see them from time to time on here local. Besides that, they are dima a dozen anywhere towards the mountains either Virginia, WV or further North.
