Bed Winch Mount

I need to mount a my winch in the bed of my truck.

Currently I have a goose neck hitch provisions in the truck. There are four holes that go down through the bed and bolt into the frame. There are two spacers that go between the bed and the frame to keep from crushing the bed. What I was thinking is taking a piece of 8" channel and drilling holes to corospond to the holes already in the truck and then bolting the winch to the channel.

Notes:
Can't mount the winch to the trailer. Not my trailer.
Pulling a disabled truck onto the trailer
Probably going to use my welding cables to run it to the battery since this is going to be a short time set up. (stick welder)

If it is short time set up wouldn't it be easier just to get a come-along and hand winch the the vehicle.

I don't have a come-a-long. I would like it to be something that I could mount into my truck when I need it.
The trailer is a bumper pull.
Here is a diagram of what it would look like

You could do like I normally do and disconnect the trailer use your receiver for the winch and the reconnect the trailer. I don't us a winch though I use straps and drag it onto the trailer with the truck. Just need a good set of blocks to go in between the wheels. I would think that a bed mounted one would work if done right though.

Is your gooseneck a removable ball type. you could just make a plate with a tube drop to go in the ball reciever and drill holes to line up with the pin. OR if its a permanent type mount, you could get a plate for the winch and weld a steel loop just big enough to fit over the ball. Under pressure, the loop would ride up to the ridge on the ball but shouldnt come over the top.

As far as the welder cables...how long are they? 20+ feet should reach the battery...that's what I got going to my trailer winch. Mine's 1/0 cable. Longer, or smaller cable, think about voltage loss. (Of course, you should never have to hit full-pull for a trailer winch, so amp draw shouldn't be too bad.)

The gooseneck hitch is a home made type. It consists of a 3/8 piece of flat with a 4" piece of c-channel on top then another piece of steel then the ball.

I was just thinking welder cable because I don't want to have to buy cable for this project. I would like to eventually get a front recieve hitch and just get a hitch mount for this thing, but this might be my easiest option for now.

thanks for the feedback

i'll post pictures if/when i make this

man just make a plate to mount the winch to and run it past the back of the winch by like 1ft then use a torch and cut u a hole for the ball so u just set it on the ball and lift it off when your done
