We thought about going to the Beech Mountain annual hog roast and fireworks last year, but didn't make it. We are thinking pretty seriously about going this year. Has anyone on here been before? I will be looking for a place to stay Saturday night. Any advice or thoughts? We would probably go up Saturday morning and do some hiking before the evening festivities.

It is Saturday July 6th this year.

Beech Mountain Pig Roast and Fireworks 2019, an Event in Beech…

Places to stay on Beech:

Pinnacle Inn
Top Of Beech
Four Seasons
Beech Alpen Inn

*disclaimer - I have not stayed at any of these places, just delivered a shit-ton of pizzas there in a former life...

Well, went up there last weekend. We stayed at Four Seasons because it was the only local hotel that would rent for only one night. The nicer places I looked at and wanted to stay required a 2 night minimum. I would give the hotel a 3 out of 5 stars. It looks great on the outside, but the rooms are outdated and a bit dirty. We hiked to a few waterfalls, rode the ski lift to the top and wandered around. The hog roast was good and the fireworks were pretty good. Overall we had a good time.

How would you are the overall experience? We were in blowing Rock last weekend. Fireworks from Tweetsie on the 4th were excellent. The Blowing Rock parade and festival on Saturday the 6th was just ok. Kid had fun at the bounce houses and playground, and it wasn't too crowded, which was nice, but I'd consider something else next year. Especially since it would be another 5-10 degrees cooler on Beech.

Pro tip...if you ever go back for the 4th. Try and park at the top of App Ski Mtn on Flat Top Rd. The Tweetsie fireworks blow up at face level. Kind of a cool different perspective and you can take a few different ways back into either Blowing Rock or Boone to avoid the 321 mess.

I parked at my parents place off Aho road and watched them from the edge of the yard, then walked back to the house when we were done ;) But I did look at Google Maps and observe the horrendous traffic on 321 and the parkway.

Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10.

The hog roast was good, but $17 for adults, and $10 for kids.

The fireworks were good.

We rode the ski lift up, and walked around the resort for a while.

We also did the dry tubing after dinner while waiting for the fireworks.

I think the high was 76-77 degrees, and the low 62 degrees.

Another pro tip : There is a gravel road, not very far off the parkway, that lets you see 3 firework shows at the same time.....
