on G503 website doing research on a 2.5 year full ground up restoration of this 45 GPW. Finally complete. Took it to a parade and parked it next to a 3A for comparative purposes. The 3A is strictly for dragging deer off my property and it gets used alot. The GPW is for weekend chores. I try to drive it al least ever other day. Last week or two its been CHILLY. top pic is Spring Hope Pumpkin festival- the unit numbers are my moms dads unit, and this is his home town parade.

you know,i was was jsut wondering to myself a couple of days ago how things were going on your project since we hadn't heard from you in a while. Last time we talked was when you got the body sand blasted and you told me who did it.Since then i have gone through my M38's sheet metal and have her where I want her.Good looking GPW.Damn good work.

just as pretty underneath. EVERY bolt came out, was cataloged and cleaned/blasted for reassembly. I got vintage wiring of maine to build me a double taillight harness with the old cotton loom so it looks correct. its 100% factory class right down to the horse hair felt firewall grommets. no shortcuts taken on this one. notice even the markings are the factory OD blue and not the field mod white.

if you guys have ever thought about building a flatty, please- please dont butcher up a MB/GPW/M38 theres too many civvys out there to cut up. but restore either one they are a hoot and super easy. they are the roots of what we do.
