Okay so my build for the lack of a better term is a learning experience, ive taken automotive classes at ACC for whatever thats worth (not alot) and built on a budget, However im taking my time and building things the correct way im not half ass anything when it comes to safety on the road so now here we are... 78/79 44 in the front of my YJ spring over on 8 pack waggys. Went and bought a flat top D44 knuckle done by ECGS for that axle today. Now correct me if im wrong the tie rod would go in the exsisting holes and stay where it is, however the drag link now goes on the new high steer arm (that I have not yet bought) up to the steering box.(cross over) NOW can i run a forward facing steering box (like a astro van box) with only 2in of front stretch. Am i correct in thinking? What do I need to buy or any advice...want to do it right the first time even if that means waiting a while for parts money to come in

I used an astro van box, but I have more front stretch, using xj front springs.

I have a pretty good angle on the drag link, which would allow for even more stretch forward, however the tie rod barely clears the Pittman arm shoulder and nut at full compression.

I'm not sure using 2 in stretch waggy springs.

Make sure your Pittman arm length is correct for the high steer arm length and desired steering angle.

I had to mount my drag link to my tie rod, and use a pittman arm similar in length to a waggy arm to get a full 37 degrees of steering angle on my 60. This puts the tie rod travel right at 8" in my application.

Somewhere is a thread with my pictures from all this, possibly my build thread, or a separate d60 steering help thread. I'll try to dig them up.

Let me know if I can help.
