So, I decided to go to work today, get a few things done while it was quiet, even thogh nobody else was.
Got to the main employee gate of the base, it was closed.... grrr grumbling under my breath I did a U-trun (following 2 other saps) and headed off to the only otehr entrance, on the other end of town.
Was pondering this (Why closed, it's not a fed holiday or anything?) when I turn L off the highway at a non-protected green...
Then realized (too late) somebody was coming. This is a 50 mph highway, I totally misinterpereted her speed... had that moment "well I'm commited now, might as well try and make it through"... so I gunned it to try and let her miss me...
BAD IDEA.
Wham, she (Scion tC) T-boned me, all I remember is white (airbags), smoke (propellant) and glass. By the time I stopped moving, I'd spun a complete 180 degress, w/ my back end sliding into the front of a nice huge Dodge 1500, she slid back into my front.
No injury at all here, she was having an asthma attack from the propellant (but had an inhaler).

Some fun pics

Just a few weeks ago when my wife had a fender-bender, i told her I wished she'd just gone all-out and totalled it, turns out the insurrance hit is the same...
In 16 years of driving ths is the 1st time I've flat out caused a wreck like this.

Man I'm gonna miss this car ('03 Protege5 5spd loaded)

I'd say you got lucky on most counts, it could have been a lot worse, I'm sure you realize that. I was on the opposite side of that scenario. The guy making the left turn would've been better off coming to a complete stop, but opted to accelerate and try to "cut the corner". I hit him at about 45degrees. The lady in the passenger seat didnt have a chance. My Jeep knocked her into the backseat, she was DOA. His insurance co. paid all my expenses; rental car while my Jeep was rebuilt, storage, towing, Jeep parts and labor, luckily no medical.

Take it easy, glad to hear no one was hurt.

^ X2 Dave, Glad you are okay, Good Luck

"We can fix it. We can fix it." :D

Wow, Dave. I hate that happened. I know how much you loved that car. The stain on the tailpipe was proof of that. ;) Hopefully you'll be able to find another one to replace it.

As long as no was seriously hurt, shit happens.

The rest of 2009 should be cake!
