Ok here is the deal, I have a brand new Wrangler X and I would love either a beefed up Dana 44 or a Ford 8.8. The problem is that it appears that the only bolt on donor would be a Rubicon, and we all know how hard they are to find. So my question is what should i expect to pay to have another Axle prepped and bracketed to fit my wrangler. Also if I already have to pay for prep should I look for another axle ( Ie Dana 60,70 Ford 9) Please tell me your thoughts on the subject.

What size tires?

8.8 would be your best bet most likely for up to ~35s-36s and you get the disks, etc.

Give me a shout to discuss pricing, we keep axles in stock.

I think the Ford 9" is one of the best axles ever built. When I was faced with the same dilemma as you, I went with the Dana 60 rear due to price, availability, and buildability options. The 8.8 is pretty popular, but doesn't have as many locker/gear/shaft options as the D60 or 9". Measure your options by your budget.

No, but it's worth more in someone else's hands than under your jeep.

Rear dana 44 came in some sports and saharas also. They will be cheaper and easier to find.
