I’m planning my TJ build. Currently it is a stock 2000 with the 4.0 and manual tranny. I have a 9” and HP44 that I will be using for it. I now need to start collecting suspension parts. So what are the best coils for a TJ? I want to run 35s or possibly 36s. I’m going to long-arm it. It still needs to be streetable, I don't have a tow rig, but it will not be my daily driver.

Rubicon Express... w/custom 4 link
1997 TJ sport, 4.0, 87,000 miles,auto,a/c, hardtop, softop, great shape in and out. Rig started out as a Daily driver and has only been wheeled once.
Front axle- Waggy Dana 44, 4.56 R/P, and a lockright.
Rear axle- Ford 9inch, Detroit,4.56R/P.
Stock T-Case.
Suspension- Custom long arm with full skid built by Those Guys Rod and Customs using Ballistic Fab mounts, and Ballistic Fab flex joints. Suspension work is heavy duty and very clean. Front suspension is a 3-link panhard, and the rear is a inverted 4-link. Flexes very well, drives great, and the wheelbase is streched a few inches.
Tires- (5)BF Goodrich 35 inch blue label Krawlers on Champion beadlocks.

man what a great reply, didnt even mention springs! can you say shameless plug? haha
ive got 4.5" RE springs and a 2" body and run 36" iroks comfortably. this winter im goin up to 8" springs and 100" wheelbase, but im takin off the body lift. 6" springs would do you perfect for 35" or 36". i would stay away from body lifts.

I used to run RE springs, they sit higher than whatever they say they are (3.5" springs are like 4.25" or 4.5"). They rode pretty well, somewhat stiff. I'm running 2.5" OME springs now and have no complaints.

yeah my RE springs are more like 5" they ride great with my clayton long arm. my new 8" are skyjacker and they look like theyre gonna be STIFF.

I COULD SEND YOU SOME PM ME YOUR EMAIL

i would stay away from body lifts.
Bleh.
1-1.25" body lifts are fine. Get some stuff up out of the way, let you run a nice belly up skid, let you tuck your gas tank up higher, etc.

As for springs for 35s I would go 1-1.25" body lift and then 3.5" with long bump stops or some trimming, or 4.5" springs for more uptravel from ride height.
RE always gets good replies, but if you find the spring rate, (not always easy) there are quite a few decent brands.

my beef with body lifts is they leave your frame low. several valid points where they are usefull, but if you put a tj with 6" springs next to one with 4" springs and 2" body the one with all spring is gonna look better(just an opinion). ihate walkin up to my jeep in a parking lot and seein light between the body and frame! i didnt really think about the t-case clearance issue with bellyup skids but now that you mention it im not sure my exhaust would clear without a body lift.
