Sorry, borrowed that line from the Blues Brothers movie.
We had lunch today at the Barbecue King on Wilkerson Blvd. today for the 1000th time. I happened to look up and see this painted on the window. I didnt even know he ate there. Anywhoo, the BBQ deep fried chicken is like crack on a stick!
According to Guy Fiero (or whatever his name is) Its the best chicken he ever ate. Hell, I could have told him that!
It hit me that with all the 50's era canopy covered parking and great food, that it would be a great place for a club meeting, get together or whatever.

Tell the truth, you were at dirty south looking at 22's and a lift for your car! Sometimes there Q is good to.

You been to Pinky's yet? Andy (lived near the Eggers) is in on that restaurant.

We hit that Dairy Queen up a lot in the summer, it's an old one.

BBQ King has some good hot dogs too. I bet the local natives would freak if about 30 or 40 big assed trucks and jeeps pulled up in there at the same time! Might think the world is coming to a end!

Yeah, that old DQ (with the Eskimo hugging the ice cream cone) is on the cover of a famous book on American advertising landmarks from the 50's.

LOL! Yup. Not the best side of town, for sure. We are in and out before the crackheads wake up. I had a guy come up to the car a few years ago trying to sell me NC Inspection stickers. He had the whole kit to make up the dates and everything! You can place an order for anything you want from those guys. I need 2 tickets to the Super Bowl on the 50. Be right back man, just stay right here!

Well if anyone is south of concord in the clover/york SC area check out Courtneys BBQ, best and cheapest around!! Another great spot for a meet n greet. Ill have to check out this place though if Im ever out that way!

hell yes that place has good chicken. my wife and I loved it when we were there. I'd love to have one closer to me. I actually snuck down there one time when I went shopping for my wife's birthday present (~3 hrs away).

Yes they have good chicken. ANother good place is the Chicken Box on Tryon, especially f you like chicken livers. Just leave your prejudice int eh truck because you will be the only white person there.

And if you want a good fish sandwich go to the Midnight Diver (115 East Carson Street).

Damn I an hungry now.

For you Concord/Kannapolis fellows, don't rule out Avenue's

It's over on Cabarrus Ave, just as you get into Little Havanna. He used to cook for Mr.C's is what I understood. Good fixins too.

Yep me too! I am having to stay late while they cut in our new phone system. Arrrrgggghhhhh!

BBQ king is awesome. I used to go there all the time, their chili slaw dogs and BBQ sandwiches are pretty damn good also. If anyone here likes burgers they should check out the Diamond off commonwealth ave. Place is slammed around lunch time.

While you're in the commonweatlh ave area, try the Dish. Meatloaf is awesome, Sol is good for dinner and Zada Janes is good for breakfast( Bunnies Rancheros)

You can' comment if you haven't tried Price's Chicken Coop in Charlotte. Just of tryon on the South side of downtown.

You will be the only white guy there and the chicken sandwich is bone in....be careful. But the best chicken I ver let pass through my lips (don't tell grandma, ok?)

Prices is good too. Say what you want about those places that cater to certain ethnicities ( yes I am being nice) but they flat know how to cook. Prices and Chicken box both have good collard greens too.

Prices is good too. You cant get in the place arround the 1st of the month, so wait till the checks are all spent and then go.

Talking about cultural food...
We went into a truely Mexican resturant off 74 one day down towards Monroe. You turn to the left beside the Honda Doctor's shop. (If you know where that is) Any way... When we walked in there was zero english spoken. Servers, cashier, cooks, nada. If you ever saw Animal House, it was like when they all walked into the blues bar. It was packed and no one was enjoying our company intruding into thier space. My Spanglish just did get us something to eat. Being the 3 biggest guys in there helped a little bit. The food was awesome! It was as good as we get down in Baja.
