getting a new truck and going to put a brake controller in it. i thought there was a thread about them some where but cant find it, so whats a good controller or the best buy right now?

I picked up the proportional one that Advance sells and I've had really good luck with it and it's very easy to use. For not much more (and if I had to do it again) I would just get a P3 and rock on. I'm somewhat glad I didn't get one though, too much fanciness for me! This one is simple, like me, and works great. It'll even work up to 4 axles. Not bad for a parts house controller.

I think it's made by Hoppy.

I've had the same Tekonsha Voyager since 1998. No frills but has always worked great (in a 97 150, 00 2500, 03 3500, 99 150, 97 ZJ, 02 Excursion and currently in a 99 250).

Short & sweet... you just can't go wrong with Tekonsha.

This. Ive used a Voyager, Primus IQ, Prodigy, and P3. I like the P3 because it can help diagnose wiring problems, but you really cant go wrong with any of them.

X2 on the voyager. When I had my own shop we had three trucks and two had voyagers and the newest one had the P3. I guess I'm old school, but I would find myself missing the voyager. There's something about having nice manual controls.

Alright one last questions since some of you have the p3 I thought you could help me on what would be a good power level to use or as a starting point. I've got a 01 f-250 pulling a cherokee on a 16 foot duel axle trailer with brakes on one axle

Go by the instructions. Typically, you want to be able to hit the paddle and apply full power to the trailer brakes at 25mph without them locking up.
