Best place to buy tubing

Where does everyone get tubing? I used to work at Ryerson so I reached out to them first but it seems like the Holiday really has them slowed down.

I need a decent amount but not a large enough amount to probably get much of a discount.

2 sticks of 2" .250 dom
3 or 4 sticks of 1.75" .120 dom
1 stick of 1.75" .188 wall dom

I have heard Alro and a few other places. Just figure some of you fab guys have a better line than I do.

Near Greensboro/Winston would be great.
 
I bought mine from what used to be Metal Express in Charlotte, now it looks like it is called Metal Supermarkets and they have a location in Greensboro.
It’s been several years, so I don’t know what the prices are like now.
 
Alro is a little high but very convenient. Especially just for a few sticks of different sizes like you need.
Tell them Guaranteed Supply sent you there and maybe they will hook you up.

We send a lot of business back and forth to each other.
 
Dillon supply is the only close place I know of but I don't think they keep it in stock. Metal Supermarkets has it as well but pricing may be high. Alro will have it as well but they're way high on just about everything.

We just priced BMG and Metal Supermarket. BMG was cheaper, but not by a lot.

They used to carry it, don't think they sold enough of it, we buy some things from them through work and they're usually cheaper than alro.

I used to purchase $$$ worth of steel from all of the suppliers daily, alro can be the shittiest to work with but give the best prices on structural stuff (if you haggle)--they also will have everything you need. Make them deliver it for free too.

:edit: I will say, for example line price on (only two) 24' sticks of 2" .25 wall is $486 for us regular plebes, through the company account it is showing $305 for the same thing. The salesmen have plenty of haggle room and the more total quantity of steel you order at one time the better price you will get on all of it. It's just a price per pound game to them.

TRI State Steel Products 336.349.6057 in Reidsville might be worth a call. Can get you bout anything you want. They hate Dillion, so if you have a price from them use it if needed. The inter circle knows me as CID Industries if you think it'll help to throw a name. Been out of the game 8-10 years so anyone new won't know me. Andy or Scott might tell you a tale. Good people to do business with.
 
Just for reference, our company price on 2 24' 2x.250, 3 1.75x.120 and 1 1.75x.187 is $609 w/o tax through alro. I'd be interested to know what quotes the other guys give/if anyone beats them.
 
I ordered through Alro today. Going to pick up shortly. Ryerson gave me a better price by like 30 bucks but Alro had it today.
8 sticks 1.75x.120
2 sticks 2x.250
1 stick 1.75 x .188

$1115 picked up 2 hours from now.

Probably paid an extra 150-200 over a big company discount but none of my connections were being helpful and I wanna get this project going

My original quote I added 1 stick of 1.75x.120 and it was 840 so yeah. You get a better deal hahaha
 
We needed 1 5/8 0.080 wall for a project recently. Stock car steel got it to us cheapest. We wound up with DOM for about $2/ft. We didn't even ask for DOM! HREW would have been fine, but we got DOM at HREW prices. I'm not complaining.
 
Yeah the breakdown for the 1.75x.120 dom was 3.28 a foot.
Not mad....
 
FYI, current pricing here in Chattanooga, based on what I picked up this week:

HREW 1.75x.120 $44/stick, no minimum
DOM 1.75x.120 is $3.36/ft, based on 5 sticks

These are best prices on the different products/suppliers. Also worth noting, my HREW supplier will deliver free of charge for anything over $300.
My DOM supplier will not deliver for less than $1000 :rolleyes:

I do business with those guys, they buy all their fabricated and straight rebar from me. Good folks!
