Best reasonably priced push mower?

its that thing we used to use to raise money as kids, before the Internet ruined everything.
You know, it's operated by sweat and stained tennis shoes.
For the longest time growing up, I thought my shoes were supposed to be that shade of green...

My dad used to do landscaping back in the day...he was all about the Snapper equipment. Those bastards always krunk'd up and got the job done.

Pro tip. Most Lowe’s when they take a mower back in on return send them out to service and they are brought back every week or every other week. Most have less than an hour on them. It happens a lot someone buys a push mower takes it home realize they should HAve got a rider and return it. I got a brand new mower never had gas in it for 100.
Talk to the inside lawn and garden guys and see if your Lowe’s does it.

I'm on it.

If I were buying a new one, I'd get a battery powered one. The only thing I hate worse than politics is a small engine that won't start.

I have a brand new push mower from Lowe's, never had fuel in it either. I'll sell it for 100.

I've moved to battery trimmer and blower and have been very happy
Same here. Now I just need a battery powered robot to use them for me because the gas powered human doesn't feel like it.

Whatever you buy, make sure it has either a Briggs & Stratton or a Honda. Id put a fresh plug, filter, blade and some oil in it. Should out last you if taken care of.

Who am I kiddin, you need a big ass zero turn.

I've had a Lowes briggs motor pusher for what seems like a decade, and I've never done anything to it but put non-ethanol in it. Never a problem. I remember to sharpen the blades every couple years and that's about it.

X2 on the Lowes returns. During my stint with them years ago. I'd say 90% of them were returned because they smoked really bad and 100% of those were because the buyer bought oil and over filled it. Back then we could buy returns and damaged stuff for .10 on the dollar. Made a small mint in college buying returned equipment and flipping it on CL.

In terms of engines.
1. Honda
2. Everyone else

Treat it like a bush hog, occasionally sharpen the blade. Keep rolling.

I didn't think about that, and I don't even know why I didn't think about that.
Can’t tell you how many pushers I’ve bought with a plugged jet and got em running and moved down the road for a little profit.

I have one of the last 2 cycle aluminum deck Lawn Boy “Gold Series” mowers, self propelled and bagger. I bought for $25. Had it running in 30 minutes. They go for around $200 when you find a nice one.

My beater big wheel pusher for my business was a free motor on a rotten frame and a perfect frame for $10 from 2 different people, put together in perfect harmony.

My pusher lawn vac was $30

My pusher edger was $20

My pusher brush cutter was $25

My pull behind leaf vac was $500 but it was like brand new and sells for $1200 new.

My 4x4 Shibaura 18hp diesel tractor was $1500

Just gotta be lookin....

Back when my Brother was in business repairing small engines, If I saw a thrown-a-way mower, I'd pick it up & take to him. Sometimes I'd get a few dollars. But he'd use the deck, wheels, motor, or whatever parts he could salvage! Most of his customers just wanted their mower Or A mower, Fixed. New or used parts only varied the repair cost! He & I both have grabbed mowers that were thrown away, because the owner couldn't start it! Usually just Flooded,or a wire fell off.

I ended up buying a cheap BS mower, err, B+S (fixt it). It runs great.
I couldn't do a self propelled. Can't do a rider. Simple, nimble, and light weight is what I needed and what I bought.

We have a JD with casters on the front and a B&S motor. I think we've had it for 15+ years. Did buy a new carb once. Stored inside. I think is the key. And don't loan it out. Castors on the front make it great for not having to lift the front when you turn. Not sure what we are going to do when this one is shot, haven't seen any with castors in awhile.

As other have said, look for a Honda motor at least. They're not cheap new, but I've had fantastic luck with Honda self propelled push mowers.
