I just finished cleaning and straightening two steel bead lock wheels. Cleaned the Irock tires. Getting ready to mount them and I'm thinking I need to lubricate the tire bead to make it easier to seat but should I use some kind of sealer to seal imperfections and rust pits?

The wheels need to be in decent shape along the bead flange, yes. NAPA sells tire mounting lube I think. I've heard of people using dish soap solution but I've always used products made for mounting because you can get them for a few bucks.

I don't have a lot of tire experience but from what I do, dish soap just to get the tires on and then bead sealer before inflating if you got rim issues. I use bead sealer on all of my rusted steel rims now.

Any particular brand or place to buy the bead sealer? I want to buy some today to mount tires tonight.

Wal Mart...

I think it all works good.

Any parts store carries it too. Pretty common to find it for sale almost anywhere.

Hey russ I use dish soap to mount truck tires and usually silicone Polish spray with bikes and nice rims just to avoid the mess i use tire sealer alot chase turned me onto it a wile back I get it from northern tool it's like 12 bucks it's really just thick rubber cement but it definitely works and is great with those thick swamped beads that get cut so easy with taking on and off rims it has a brush that comes with it and I put some around the rim where the bead will seat and also on the tire itself any extra you can just peel off after it drys

Thanks for the help

B-S is a must for lawn mower tires too. Also had a tire start slipping on my tiller 2 years ago that I put it on and it never slipped again. I just tilled last weekend with it. Had to take the wheel off though and use the HF press to get it in there. But worked like a charm.
