Hey guys recently started wheeling again and I'm going to need a tow rig/DD. I drive 24mi round trip to work but still need something reliable enough for beach trips and such. I am looking at Chevy, GMC, Nissan Titan, and Late model Toyota Tundra's. I have owned a titan and several GM products. Gas or late model diesel ? I have a budget around $30k max. And don't mind buying used. Any advise would be helpful.

^^^ I have read all the pages on these 2. Really looking for people who own these types of trucks and what kind of fuel mileage/ maintenance cost they have had during their ownership. I worked for a ford dealer for 1 yr and have been working in an independent garage for the last 10. I know to stay away from 6.0's, GM 4L60 trans and not a particular fan of any dodge products unless its a cummins with an NV4500. But I have a 2 year old so anything I get has to be 4 door.

Did you get the Titan, or you just posting a picture of it?

If it were me, I'd look for a 2500HD with a 6.0 gasser. That's just me though. I'm quite partial to GM products (well, mostly just the trucks) and I have a lot of parts, the tools to work on them, and software to make them more better :D If you get lucky, you could find a 6.0/NV4500 setup in a 2500HD. They're not exactly common, but I've always wanted one. I've seen maybe 4 in person.

You didn't mention, but are you looking for a regular cab, extended cab, or a full crew cab? Long bed? Short bed? 4x4 or does it matter? Etc...

Yea I got the titan, I needed full four doors I have a 2 year old. They gave me an unthinkable deal in Hickory Nissan so I couldn't pass it up. Over 10 grand off a fully loaded truck.

Those motors make some damn good torque.
