Ok, a sincere question and no dough boy comments please.

This morning I met with a guy who is co-owner of a demolition and excavating company. During our meeting and looking at his operation he drove me buy their "holding" field.

What this field consisted of was approximately 5-10 acres of broken up concrete slabs and asphalt patches. Now unlike house sized boulders these were in a range of sizes from pebble, to very manageable. Most of what I saw on top could actually be hand loaded into a truck if need be.

So my question is. Could this material be useful to a privatepark such as DPG, or The Farm etc. I am not personally interested in building this, more over curious as to if it is even useful.

According to the owner, they simply hold this stuff and have a group that keeps an eye on sites looking for debris fill and then this material is trucked out to be dumped. I explained my thoughts and he was even receptive to possibly delivering for simply the cost of fuel, just to get rid of some of it.

Now my concerns are 2 fold.

#1 How would you ever stabilize a hill made of broken concrete to prevent an avalanche of sorts? Could you poor a mortar or concrete mix over it and make a man made mountain?
(I know I have seen this technique with some of the urban wheeler parks)

#2 Would sharp concrete edges be more harmful on sidewalls than rocks?

Again not looking to start a slam fest just curiosu if this is even remotely useful or not.

Thanks for any opinions.

The biggest problem i see would be the possibility of rhebar sticking out of the concrete. But other than that, I see your in york, and the company isnt gonna haul it far.

I will take some if you get them to move it. I wouldnt mind having a rock garden on our farm.

I work for a ready-mix concrete company. We are always looking for some places to dump out left-over concrete. If these broken up pieces need to be bonded together, talk to your local ready-mix concrete companies and ask them to dump out left-overs on your piles.

Interestingly enough while we were driving through this field, I didnt se any rebar, i remember thinking this was odd after leaving.

The company is in Charlotte.
The location we were at was near the Huntersville area but he also said they had a 100acre holding field near the airport
