So I got these for my son for his hs graduation. I got them for his 97 wrangler and they are too long by about an inch. This pic shows how the rear of the guard overlaps where the rear flare is installed when the front of the guard is lined up with the front flare. I ordered them from 4wd and everything indicates that they are the right guards. What could be going on here?

LJ should be significantly longer than TJ. Could they be JK ones? I have no idea what the TJ/JK rocker length difference might be.

Post a pic of the entire jeep with the slides up to it, I wonder if they fit under the fender and are made to take up the whole length. Like previously said, for flat fenders or needing to trim the stock ones.

Judging by this image we don't have them up high enough. We are going to re-attempt the install and remove the flares completely. There are some "tabs" under the body that we may have to bend up in order to get them high enough. Might even take the jack and force them up as high as possible. Instructions actually say use a jack.

So I got them installed. Sorry no pics. First thing I had to do was cut the 5 tabs off the bottom of the tub. I then had to elongate the mounting holes in the fender flares so that they could be pushed in toward the wheels creating more room for the rocker guard. The rear flare had to move and 3/8 inch and the front flare moved about 1/4. Moving the flares was disappointing because it exposed the area that was underneath the flares where the flares wore the paint. The rocker guards were mounted as high as possible and because of that I had to cut a little more than 1/4" off the standoffs that were used on the bottom mounting bolts. I wish they were about 3/4 inch shorter than they were and I wouldn't have the problem with the flares. Otherwise they are pretty nice rocker guards. Oh and the pic in the first post shows the driver's side flare on the passenger side. :eek:ops:

Why not trim the fender backing so it sits over the new rocker guards? Basically make it so it fits flush on both the body and the rocker guard. Seen it done a number of times and it isn't very hard to do.
