big tire balancing

You can get a bag of glass beads from a truck shop, or I know a guy who runs 3/4 lb. of regular bb's in his 39.5s with no problems. Balancing with wheel weights is pointless when your talking that much weight.

water and /af mix is my favorite next is copper bbs

Why balance them. They dont spin fast enough on rock to matter. Joking aside, my 35x14.50 boggers seem pretty well balanced without weights and Ive run up to 60mph.

Any kind of non-ferrous BBs will work just fine. I've used Air Soft BBs several times and even on some tires at work that wouldn't balance out right. My 38.5 SXs on 8-bolt rims ride better with BBs than my XZLs with wheel weights!

I have the PVC inserts and obviously the pellets, air soft BB's and water -antifreeze mix would work its way in between the insert and the rim and wouldnt stay in the outer most part of the tire. So wouldnt the ability of whatever I chose be decreased because of its location?

It won't get in between the insert and the rim, and if it does it will fall back out when you slow down or are going slow. I've dismounted my 8-bolts (regular Mag inserts) a few times and found all of my Air Soft BBs nestled nicely in the bottom of the tire :driver:

I bought 44 inch groundhawgs, and never balanced them, or put anything in them, and it is on my DD, and never had a problem. and im talkin about goin up to 100mph.

Ive got 38" 10Ply SX's on H1's with rubber runflats, never balanced, and they are happy until 65mph, then they start to shake a bit. I vote for try it before you balance.

No offense, but 100mph on a ground hawg (which BTW is only rated for 85mph) is not a good idea...

There's a place called Ace Automotive in Rockwell, it's right outside of Salisbury. I've had his shop doing my stuff for a couple years. He can do anything Galloways does and for about 2/3-80% of the price. It's a small shop and just a guy who likes working on trucks. However, most the time it takes him a while to get to your stuff because his schedule is always packed, and if you ever need something, he'll have to order it because he keeps almost ZERO inventory.
