I just got back into riding again finally and wanted to see what trails are around Charlotte and in the state. I rode Sherman Branch this morning and know of a handful of other places but I wanted to see if others rode and what they prefer. Trail riding is more of the downhill style and general trail riding.

I like to ride off of hw181 in Morganton. There is a nasty fast trail behind canyons in blowing rock....holler at me sometime and we can hit up some trails. I don't know much about trails in the charlotte area but I have seen some off the side of 85...I think...well it could be 77. I'm not good with directions in charlotte.

Whitewater center has some good trails, but you have to pay to play. Poplar tent is good, and there are actually some really good trails at UNCC's campus.

There is one (bike park type deal) off 150 in Lincolnton, I'm unsure of the name of it though.

Rode at the Beatty today. My bike doesn't like it too much though. Im looking for a downhill style trail, big jumps and high speed. Has anyone ridin Beach Mountain or any of the ski slops?
Does anyone know anything about PeeDee?

Beech is getting better but as far as I know it is not open unless it is for events. You can ride the lifts up at Sugar and bomb down on the weekends. Great downhill over there. Dark Mtn in Wilkes and the Canyons Trail in Blowing Rock are also good DH runs.

Well I've rode a couple trails so far. Francis Beatty is kinda lame, good cross country riding but not too much going on. Sherman Branch is the best cross country riding in the area for sure. I've been riding Poplar Tent lately and that seems to be the best place in the area for me so far. It has some pretty good drops, decent jumps and some high speed areas. I really want to hit the big drops at Pee Wee's though. If anyone is down for going out there one weekend or to the Mountain for some downhill let me know and I'll meet you out there. Thanks

Old thread I know
figured I would be better off posting here then a new one.

I use to ride a lot when I was younger but it was mostly street. Me and a friend (cahill on here) have been thinkin about gettin back in to riding.

Hopefully i'll have a bike this week after that i'd be up for meeting up and riding with who ever.

just shoot me a PM or something

Beech is trying to be open to the public this year. I know Ryan is trying to build more trails but I don't know how much more they'll have to offer by the time they open.

I'm heading up this morning to start working on our other trails at the dirty, as much damage as this winter has done I don't know that we'll get more than 1-2 more trails ready before our first race.

Old thread but it's that time of year again!

Yup its that time of year. I've hit up a couple trails on the Glory but I need to get to the mountains. Liam let me know if you need a hand at the bird.

ive been going to whitewater center but its more cross country stuff, and the damn pine needles suck!!!!! had a bad roll
x3 on poplar tent, great for down hill, tight trails. devils drop is pretty cool.

Yeah Poplar is really the only thing around here to go fast on. Devils drop is pretty good, i just wish is was a lot bigger or steeper....or had a jump dropping you into the hill. If any body wants to go ride let me know.

once I get my bike im up for it.
Hopefully I can get it tomorrow so I can ride some while im down in Charlotte

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but Lake Norman State Park is also a good place to ride and it's free. It is mainly corss country single track riding. I believe thay just opened a new section which makes it a total of 18 miles of riding. I believe the new section supposed to have more chalengin terrain but I can't say for sure. I haven't had a chance to get out theresince they opened it.

The park also has some nice primitive camp spots on a first come first serve basis and a nice swim area. I think the camping is $10-$15 per night.

Let me know if you guys put together any rides. I need the exercise, my bike needs some love and my rigs need a break. :)

Pee Wee's is the name great place to ride. There is a sign in sheet and they prefer you to leave a donation to ride. It's on the honor system just drop a couple bucks in the box. It's nice though they have rest rooms and a covered area to kick back and relax under celing fans.

There are also trails in Huntersville at the park off Hwy 21. They are nice too.

I haven't rode in years. I miss it though I had a GF Sugar I miss it dearly.

If I ever get time off work I'm definitely down to ride. Just got my bikes down here from Boone so hit me up if you/anyone wants to get together sometime.
