Last week someone on a motorcycle waved to me on rt.55 in clover. i thought it was because I had put my turn signal on too early, & he was trying to make sure I noticed him. I felt bad about scaring him like that. Several days later the same thing happened on 557 on my way home from work. Only this time I hadn't caused this reaction. Both times I thought the slight swerving thing looked a little scary. So now I figure maybe it was someone from here. Y2K?

Seeing as how I have the Harley logo down the hood of my TJ, I get waves from Bikes and Jeeps alike.
When I worked at Shelton's H-D, I had a few customers who owned both a Harley and a Jeep and they all agreed that the open air feel of a Jeep topless and doorless is as close to being on a Harley as you can get on four wheels.
I wave at Jeeps and bikes alike and get wave backs from both. It might also help that to bikes, I bike wave (peace sign pointed to the ground, palm facing the other rider) and to Jeeps, I Jeep wave (any other form of hand gesture except the bird). :D

You know, In the south your riding or walking down the road ,throw your hand up and wave at someone, they usually wave back, but if they don't, you think no more about it. Unfortunately I spent part of my childhood north of the M/D line. I noticed up yonder, you can wave at someone, but if they don't recognize you they don't wave back. Then they will worry the rest of the day, did I know them ,should I have waved back. Yankees, can't live with em and can't shoot em anymore.

That's funny cause yesterday I was driving down the road waving out the window at every oncoming car, i'd say 85% waved back even though they probably didn't know me

I know what you mean. Especially since I turned out to be a damned yankee myself. This wasn't by choice though. About this particular wave, it was more than the usual southern style wave. Likely would have just raised the fingers on his left hand if that were the case.

. :D
This is true. I have a foot peg on the outboard drivers side, & with the windshield folded down it's pretty darned close. I'll tell you this, you quickly learn why they named it a wind-shield!

Hey Mike, I was visiting My Pops in Virginia in the mid 1970's Everyone waves at everyone else without fail. Pops noticed 12 year old me waving at cars across th 50 yard wide median on the interstate. We were driving at about70mph. He says don't bother waving on the highway, we are going too fast for them to see you. I say Pop they've been waving back for quite some time now. He looks over there & says sonofabish they are aren't they. :handed:

I have met folks that have moved here from northern states and get freaked out by the southern waving. One girl didn't know if it was all these men waving at her because she was a chick in a jeep or not. We tried to explain southern hospitality to her after that. I notice in small towns especially.:driver:

yeah, there's definitely a "biker wave". left hand, two fingers out, down low under the handlebars. don't expect harley riders to give them out though (if you're not riding a harley).

i've found that most all corvette owners wave at eachother too.

The 2 down wave signifies to keep the 2 wheels down, as in keep the dirty side down from what I've heard.

Yep. They do.

I just got a dual sport bike last week and have only been riding a couple opf days and EVERY bike that's passed me has did the 2 finger wave. I got home and told Steph that I thought that when I had my jeep that people waved a lot. I think it's cool though. Kind of a brotherhood of sorts.

Nope it wasnt me man. I dont own a bike.... yet.. its in the works. But yeah i would get carpeltunnel syndrome if i waved to all the stock Jeeps and bikes.. So i just give the salute to modified jeeps. Those are the only ones that turn my head anyways.. now chicks in Jeeps, it doesnt matter, they get a salute for turning both heads :)
