If you are bitten by your own dog, what are the state requirements? Do they quarentine your dog?
Here are a few details:
Two dogs, collar on each one, in the owners hands. One dog growls at the other, they jump at each other, owners hand slips off of collar. Owner tries to grab collar again, misses and sticks hand in between two dogs. Resulting in one puncture wound from one canine tooth, don't know which dog bit the owner.
The owner had to go to the ER the next day due to swelling and oozing of juices from wound. Incident was reported to the state as required by law.
I can't find anything in laymens terms that explains in detail what happens next.

yes, This happen to a friend of mine. the dog was jmping and playing and his forehead hit the dogs tooth (I do not know all th details) basically he had to quarentine the dog, if he did it with the state they would have charged a bunch, so he had a friend keep it at thier house... quarentined.

From the North Carolina Manual for Rabies Prevention and Animal Bite Management - "Dogs, cats and ferrets that do not exhibit signs of rabies and which bite people, pets
or livestock should be confined and observed for 10 days unless circumstances demand otherwise"

Are your dogs current on their rabies vaccinations?

I would offer to pay the ER bill for the guy if it was your dog that got off of the leash. If it was your dog tha sliped off then it is you fault that this happen no matter which dog he got bit by. I would not be worried about the dog I would worrie about the lawsuit!

I wouldnt say anything about it... thats just me

Already went to the ER.

It was me that got bitten, and I don't know which dog it was. One dog just came into heat yesterday, so I am guessing that is what caused the bad moods.

The ER has to report the bite by law.

Usually the police will call or come by your place to follow up. Make sure that you have your dogs current rabies tags readily available so you can show them when they show up rather than scramble all around looking. If you don't have them call your vet to get proof and replacement tags.

You will either have to confine them (I would assume both unless you just pick one dog and say they did it) at your vets OR more likely they will allow you to confine them at your house.

It happened Friday afternoon, and no one has came by yet. I have talked to the SC guy on the phone and he said it was turned over to NC now. I am hoping they put it off for a few more days so the time will be up.

You should be ok if they are both up to date on their vaccinations. At the very worst, you may have to quarantine them at home.

Here in Gaston County my son got bite by our dog a few years ago. They came and took my dog to the animal control shelter because I did not have proof of the rabies vaccine when the showed up. 10 days and about 130 dollars later I got my dog back.
