BJ's stuck in Knuckle!!

Rented the tool from AZ but all it was is the fork on a stick which got them free from the axle, but how do you get them out of the knuckle. Yes, I have used a BFH and am afraid I am going to crack the knuckle.
Thanks
Kevin
Go back to zone and return the pickle fork

When I replaced the ball joints on my 44, I just removed the knuckles from the axle and carried them and the new joints to a shop. They pressed out the old and pressed in the new. I think it was like 40 bucks total. Lots less of a headache for sure.

Go to HF and buy a 12 ton shop press. Press them out yourself. Have new press to play with and press new bj's back in with.
Don't forget to take off the snap rings.

BJs and Moose Knuckles?

Shouldnt this be in the garage?

the snap ring should be on around the base of the bj, on the bottom of the balljoint...

if AZ dont rent the bj tool out, I know for sure that Advance does, cuz ive used theirs many times...

Ive done what Webb said too, and it saves alotta hassle... but not all alignment shops will do it for you...

Where are the snap rings? My manual didn't show any kind of snap ring. I will go to AZ and see if they have that set. The kids gave me the fork and a wheel puller set!!!
Thanks
Kevin

The CJ D30 doesnt use the snap rings, the ball joint won't press far enough to expose the knuckle. The replacement part may come with a snapring, I know this left me scratching my head for a while.
My local AZ had that C-clamp press.

beat the shit out of it......jk. I had a pretty rough time getting the balljoints out of a waggy 44...I ended up beating until the balljoints were useless.

Thanks for the info. I looked and looked for a snap ring of any kind and there isn't one. The kid at AZ just through some boxes on the counter, but said he knew exactly what I needed, yeah right. I was in a hurry and ran out the door, when I got home I had the wheel puller and a spindle nut set that went up to 34 mm!! Thanks but no thanks!!!
I will go to Advance, if they don't have it I will go to a machine shop!!
Kevin

I went to Advance today, and got the same deer in the headlight look. I asked if I could see where they kept their rental tools and there it was sitting on the shelf. The dude felt like an idiot and said "I wondered what that was used for" it says right on the case "Ball Joint Press" where do they get these guys??? Anyway I will try it tomorrow.
Kevin

I have to agree. It's sometimes amazing how little some of the employees at parts stores actually know about automotive stuff.
