Or....???

I have been shopping a new/used F250 or F350, 2014 plus. I had pretty much settled on a plain white truck...plentiful and good selection. This one will just see trailer towing duty, mostly local, and just a few K miles per year.

Today, I found one I really like...checks all the boxes, mileage, features, clean, the price is right.

It's pretty, BUT....it's black.

My current truck is an '06. It's gray, and can go a while between washing and waxing, and always looks pretty decent.

I have had two black vehicles in my life. Swore never again after the last one. '85 GMC and a '90 gooner. Wash, wax, and it shows dirt 2 days later. And every little scratch and ding stands out.

BUT...I *like* this truck.

Sooooo.....talk me into, or out of, going black.

Black looks great when it's clean, and looks clean until you stop washing it, and then immediately starts getting dirty, haha. Like you I've owned 2 black vehicles and will probably never own another.

But, if you like it, and can tolerate it showing dirt and needing more frequent washings, go for it! I had a plain white Ford and hated it because it was always me and 20 other guys with our white Ford trucks everywhere I went.

Have it wrapped or painted. I can't keep vehicles clean.

Hmmm, my wife's cousin does wraps on race stuff for a living....hmmmm....
I've always wanted a trophy truck style wrap on my truck with the bed finished out.

Think Chase truck. I'd have to update my build and step it up. But I'd DD that style in a heartbeat.

Worked for a fella that re wrapped his personal every couple years. Used it as mobile advertising and wrote it off. Even saw some lease vehicles done and returned stock at the end.

If you get serious and find the right dollar and graphics combo forward me some info.
I've managed to find really good artist and crappy application or vice versa in my budget. I guess I need to pony up my budget.

My truck is black, my van is black, and my wife's car is black. I never wash any of them. I don't care how they look.

You've gotta wash it several times a week and be okay with every dent, ding, and scratch being visible from 30 yards off.

And, I live on a gravel road. 2000' from my parking spot to the paved road. It'll be gray when it's not black.

I’d keep looking because as soon as you buy a black one, you’ll find the one you really want and regret it.

Or get one of those unlimited wash subscriptions to an automatic car wash.
I know a guy with one of those. He washes his truck 3 or 4 times a week. He also somehow managed to get the tag on a separate plaque instead of the windshield, so he can wash his car or Jeep or wife's van any time he wants.

Buy a grey/silver truck.

Or if you only put a couple thousand miles on it in a year, just wash it before you use it. There is always maaco and then it can be whatever color you want it to be. Plus it'll be new shiny paint.

Given this info. Color wouldn't even be a concern for me. Except orange. The only thing orange was the General Lee....all else are just imposters.

So, it'll be grey, then.

I'm a fan of metallic silver. So long as you keep the wheels clean, you can wash it twice a year and it'll still look good.

My car is black-ish. Ive had it a year and have yet to actually wash it. I park it outside if I know its gonna rain. I work for a steel company and park in a gravel lot, next to the paint yard with lulls and tractor trailers constantly driving around. Its dang near grey at this point. I figured out real quick just to not car. Its a vehicle, it really doesnt matter.

Everything gets dirty, if it checks all the boxes and you don't hate the color....buy it.

Hypothetically, if you went to the dealer to say "I like it...but I just don't think I can buy a black truck" and he said "no problem, we just sold it to someone else".....would your gut reaction be "I don't care"......or "FAWK ME....DAMN IT!"
