Blah.

Look for rust, rust and lastly, rust. My buddy got what he thought was a gem of a YJ a few years back.. By the time it was all said and done he basically had a new frame and all new floor pans. The PO did a good job of disguising the flaws and my buddy was new to the jeep game and didn't know what to look for.

Paint on the firewall does not match the exterior. Has it been wrecked and rebuilt?

Lot of miles.

Wondering the same myself. I don't know if it was just repainted and the jambs weren't painted also or what. The miles don't bother me too much. I've had several high mileage 4.0's.

$3-3500ish because of the miles. Nice looking jeep, but like others have said, make sure the looks aren't just skin deep. But a YJ that makes it over 200k miles has obviously been well taken care of.

Well I'm out on it then I guess. Guy wants $5,500. Wranglers that are priced at $3,500 or so on Craigslist from my experience have been ragged out junk or bone stock with a million miles on them. On to the next one...

Oh, in that case, you should check out TJs. $12k for a ragged out 15yo Jeep, or $20k for one that has a couple grand worth of Smittybilt parts on it.

Trust me, I have been. The price of Wranglers are insane and I can't find an XJ I like and when I do it's priced at $8,000. The price of them has sky rocketed also

Well that is what you get when a car manufacturer ditches it's roots for other truly non off road inspired soccer mom utilities.......And the fact that anything remotely like a real Jeep cost as much or more than a well equipped pickup.

If it has no rust, no mechanical problems and the paint looks as good in person as it does in the pics,

It's probably worth 5k.

The price of jeeps is stupid over the last 10 years. I just can't believe te price of yj's has gone up and Tjs have had almost zero depreciation.

Check floor pans, rockers, and rear 1/4s for rust, as well as rear frame behind axle.

Pull carpet in front foot well to see floor from top and underneath.

I wonder how much those people are actually getting though for those ragged out ones they are asking $3,500 for.

The one you posted above looks super clean. I would definitely go take a look at it if he is close and not firm on his price.

Hey Tyler, that jeep actually comes to my shop to be serviced. I've worked on it a few times in the past few years. Don't remember anything jumping out as obviously wrong with it.

I do remember the last time it was in here, they wanted a very thorough check over, and I mean thorough. He had probably listed about 15 particular things on the ticket that he wanted checked. So take that for what it's worth.

the price of wranglers will continue to rise.

Fiat chrysler is actively looking to reduce costs, including courting GM for a merger bid. If they cant find a suitable buyer one of two things will happen to the wrangler, it'll either get dropped from the line up or it will receive an italiano make over like the cherokee got.

Expect a car like unichassis and lots of visual reminders your in a jeep, because otherwise you wont recognize it as one.

if either of those happen, wrangler prices will sky rocket.

No way they'll mess up the wrangler, it's about the only thing they have that makes high profit sales year after year. Also, there's nothing else like it on the market, so it's an easy niche, and they can ask whatever price they want.

2018 Jeep Wranger: heir to the off-road throne

wouldnt be so sure of that. not that an independent suspension was tried (which means it will be back) and that the removeable soft top is gone. instead there are panels that can be removed.
